Parenting Support
At Merricat’s, our parents are as cherished as our students.
Throughout the year, directors and teachers are available to answer questions, check in on each child’s development, and discuss anything and everything.
We support families in various areas of parenting. Parents reach out regarding challenges occurring at home, and we happily set up individual meetings to tackle any tricky aspects of parenting preschoolers. Some families prefer just a one-time discussion and others prefer ongoing discussions throughout the year. This individualized approach to parenting support ensures that each family benefits from the type of support that works best for them.
School Placement Guidance
As both teaching and administrative staff, we get to know all aspects of each child’s life at Merricat’s. As a result, when it is time to explore kindergartens and the schools where children may spend the next 9 to 12 years of their lives, we can share all that we have learned about each child as a learner and a classmate. Additionally, Mimi Broner, director of admissions and school placement, is able to share with parents all of the information she has gathered about various kindergarten programs and ongoing schools in much of our city. There is an abundance of wonderful public and independent schools in New York City! Sometimes the process is clear-cut and simple. Sometimes it is less clear and more nuanced. Regardless of your situation, Mimi and other Merricat’s staff will seamlessly guide you through your child’s next steps.
